Our philosophy and practice Sanjivani- which translates as "One that infuses life" in Sanskrit an ancient, classical and sacred language of the Hindus in India. Sanjivani herb is found predominantly in the Himalayas, which is known for its life restoring properties. Our beliefs are: love and peace, caring for our environment and nature, to ensure a healthy balance all round, taking care of ourselves and others by incorporating a healthy lifestyle of balanced organic nutritional foods and supplements and exercising through practice of Yoga, and the use of natural medicines when needed to bring our “vital force” back in balance and harmony. At Sanjivani we take pride in Holistic Healthcare. Our approach to integrated healthcare means that we can offer the best of Holistic Therapies ranging from Homoeopathic Care, Aromatherapy, Nutritional Therapy, Bach Flower Remedies, Herbal and Anthroposphic Medicine, from a professionally qualified practitioner in both Pharmacy and Holistic Medicine. We offer treatment and consultations in a relaxing and therapeutic environment, together with supplies of both pharmaceutical and natural remedies supported with safe advice on its use. We would always recommend Medical advice where necessary. Within the Pharmacy, we are in a position to detect early any possible drug interactions with herbs and nutritional supplements. Our patient care and safety is very important to us. (Always consult your GP for any serious conditions.) Our vision is to provide in addition to our Pharmaceutical service, to supply natural remedies in a way that was both informative, safe and backed by good advice on its appropriate use. We have a dispensary where homoeopathic remedies, herbs, Bach flower remedies, and pure aromatherapy oils are available or made up to your individual needs. Our purpose of this integrated healthcare approach is to ally anxiety and detect potential problems early as possible so that best possible system of health care can be offered, together with referrals to professional consultants in that field. Our computerised patient medication record system seemingly allows us to keep accurate records on all medication and natural remedies, so that any possible drug interactions with nutritional supplements, essential oils, and herbal medicines, and over the counter medicines can be detected early. As a pharmacist, I have seldom seen any significant and permanent “cures” to any diseases, but rather palliation and suppressions, which only serves to cause, further debility in years to come. Homoeopathy is about “expression and not suppression”. It is through suppressions of emotional and physical symptoms that give rise to so many chronic diseases, e.g. using steroids in treatment of skin eruptions such as psoriasis and eczema, often give rise to chronic asthma, blood pressure, diabetes etc. in later years of life, which further complicates the prognosis. Symptoms are merely and expression of imbalance of our “life forces” which needs to be addressed in order to cure. It is this awareness in my Practice that lead me to specialise in Homoeopathy and other Holistic therapies. My experience as a Pharmacist and as a Homoeopath has shown me that Holistic Health care involving natural therapies such as Homoeopathy, Aromatherapy, Osteopathy, Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Bach Flower therapy, Nutrition and lifestyle changes which incorporates diet, exercise, yoga and meditation should always be considered as a first line therapy in primary care, treating the patient as a whole person, rather than the disease alone. Hand in hand with centuries of wisdom and experience, science is able to enhance the power of healing and health of every individual. Our aim at Sanjivani is to offer these services to our patients and our local GP surgeries, so that an individual has an informed choice of healthcare and can take responsible action for their health, and to actively participate in their healthcare in a positive way. With ever increasing numbers of individuals especially women and children looking for a more natural approach to their health problems, it is important that the health care professional have a good in depth knowledge of natural therapies. This integration of both conventional and complementary medicine within our Pharmacy will hope to illustrate how two approaches can be combined, and how the patient can in most circumstances get the best of both worlds. ©Sanjivani |
